New Beginnings

Preparing a place to begin again

New Beginnings is a developing ministry for people returning from prison who need a place to rebuild daily life. The vision brings a supportive home, Christian discipleship and practical work together, with a small first group who will learn and contribute as the program takes shape.

The current direction is a gradual start with a manager and a first group of two or three residents. The January 2027 site review is planned.

A need heard through prison ministry

The need has come into focus through relationships inside prisons. In April 2026, Naphtali described five people in prison asking about opportunities for work and ministry after serving their sentences. Their questions reinforced the need for the New Beginnings program already under consideration.

Those conversations give the plan a human starting point. Returning to the community brings questions about where to live, how to work and where to find fellowship. New Beginnings is being prepared around that next stage of life.

Begin with people and daily life

The current plan is to start gradually: finalize the program, prepare the basic site, and recruit and train a manager before welcoming two or three residents.

Starting with a small group is intended to give the team time to establish routines of discipleship, shared responsibility and practical learning. It also makes room to learn from the people who will help shape the home’s daily life.

Develop the property together

The seven-acre property provides a setting for this work. Rehabilitating the property and further planting are intended to be part of residents’ contribution and training, with up to four additional acres considered for coffee.

Tools, transport, farming skills and day-to-day management all belong in the preparation. The approach is gradual: residents would help develop the place where they are living, gaining experience and taking responsibility as the work progresses.

Preparing for a lasting ministry

A full site review is planned for the January 2027 trip. It will be an opportunity to examine the property, review the program details with local leaders and consider the next stages of development.

The long-term hope is for practical work on the property to contribute to the ministry’s support. The first task is to prepare well for the people: a capable manager, a workable routine and a thoughtful beginning.

Pray for the local team, the right manager and the people who may one day make their new beginning here.

Share in the work

Pray with the churches, follow their stories and help resource the ministry.
